Technical Fouls and Unsportsmanlike Conduct
The Do Right League is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and sportsmanlike environment. Unsportsmanlike conduct by players, coaches, team personnel, or spectators will not be tolerated.
Technical-Foul Penalty
Each technical foul will result in:
Two free-throw attempts for the opposing team; and
Possession of the ball for the opposing team at midcourt.
Technical fouls issued solely for uniform or jersey violations are excluded from the suspension totals described below.
Individual Technical-Foul Limits
A player who receives two technical fouls during the same game will be immediately ejected and suspended for a minimum of one additional game.
A player who accumulates three technical fouls during the season will be suspended for the remainder of the season, including all playoff and postseason activities, unless the league grants a written waiver.
No refund will be issued to a player who is suspended, expelled, or removed from the league because of disciplinary action.
Team Technical-Foul Limit
A team that accumulates six technical fouls during the season, including individual and team technical fouls, may be removed from the league for the remainder of the regular season and all postseason activities.
Technical fouls issued solely for uniform or jersey violations will not count toward the team’s six-foul limit.
No refund will be issued to a team that is removed from the league because of disciplinary action.
False or Misleading Information
Providing false, incomplete, or misleading information regarding a technical foul, ejection, or player suspension may result in the suspension or removal of the player, coach, or entire team.
Examples of misconduct include:
Refusing to provide the scorer’s table or league representative with the full name of the offending player;
Providing a false name or misrepresenting the identity of a player who received a technical foul or was ejected; and
Allowing or attempting to allow a suspended, ineligible, or unregistered player to participate in a game.
A game may be stopped and will not resume until the identity of the offending player is accurately disclosed.
Flagrant Fouls
A flagrant foul is a personal or technical foul involving excessive, violent, dangerous, or unacceptable conduct. A flagrant foul may be intentional or unintentional and may involve physical contact or serious noncontact misconduct.
Examples may include, but are not limited to:
Striking, punching, kicking, or kneeing another person;
Using excessive or unnecessary force;
Attempting to injure another player;
Making violent or threatening physical contact;
Attempting to physically intimidate an opponent or official; or
Engaging in severe or threatening unsportsmanlike conduct.
A player who receives a flagrant foul will be immediately ejected from the game. The length of any additional suspension or disciplinary action will be determined by league leadership after reviewing the incident.
A flagrant foul will also count as a technical foul toward the player’s and team’s season totals.
Fighting
Fighting will not be tolerated.
Any player, coach, team representative, or spectator who participates in, encourages, escalates, or leaves the bench area to join a fight may be immediately removed from the facility and suspended or permanently expelled from the league.
The Do Right League reserves the right to contact facility security or law-enforcement authorities when an incident involves assault, threats, weapons, property damage, or other unlawful conduct.
No refund will be issued following a suspension or expulsion related to fighting.
Team Conduct
Teams are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship at all times.
A team that repeatedly displays poor sportsmanship, disruptive behavior, disrespect toward officials, or conduct that threatens the safety or enjoyment of others may be suspended or removed from the league. All registration fees and other amounts paid will be forfeited.
Officials, scorekeepers, coaches, players, and league representatives should report serious or repeated incidents of poor sportsmanship to the league director.
Team managers are responsible for helping ensure that their players, coaches, bench personnel, and spectators follow league conduct requirements.
Player and Spectator Conduct
The Do Right League seeks to promote respect, fellowship, fair competition, and positive relationships among all players, teams, officials, and spectators.
The following conduct may result in a technical foul:
Using profanity during a game;
Complaining about or questioning an official’s call by anyone other than the designated team manager;
Repeatedly disputing an official’s judgment call;
Engaging in disruptive behavior from the bench;
Using abusive or profane language as a spectator; or
Failing to comply with an official’s or league representative’s reasonable instruction.
Misconduct by a spectator associated with a team may result in a team technical foul.
The following conduct may result in a technical foul, double technical foul, immediate ejection, flagrant foul, suspension, or removal from the league:
Directing profanity, threats, or abusive language toward an official, opposing player, coach, scorekeeper, or spectator;
Making insulting, personal, discriminatory, or degrading comments about another person;
Taunting, baiting, mocking, or attempting to provoke another player or official;
Attempting to physically intimidate or threaten another person;
Throwing equipment or damaging property;
Entering the playing court without authorization during an altercation; or
Engaging in any conduct that threatens the safety or orderly operation of the game.
Any intentional physical contact with an official may result in immediate ejection, permanent removal from the league, and notification of facility security or law-enforcement authorities.
Alcohol, Drugs, and Tobacco
Alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco products, vaping products, and smoking are prohibited during all Do Right League activities and at all facilities being used by the league.
Anyone who appears to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or who possesses or uses a prohibited substance, may be denied entry, removed from the facility, suspended, or expelled from the league.
League Authority
The Do Right League reserves the right to interpret, revise, add, remove, or modify any rule or disciplinary action when league leadership determines that a change is necessary to promote safety, fairness, sportsmanship, orderly competition, or the best interests of the league.
