Team Referees Scorekeeper Roles
Team Manager’s Role – Make sure all forms are accurate and complete, i.e. full name.
Each team shall designate one team manager (coach or asst) before the game begins for each game or season
Teams should have a non-playing adult (coach or assist) on the bench at all times.
The designated team manager (coach or asst) and only the (coach or asst)) shall be responsible for all interactions with the officials
Managers (coach or asst) may discuss rule interpretations but may not discuss judgment calls
Managers (coach or asst) are expected to be respectful toward officials – the team manager (coach or asst) does not have the right to question judgment calls or speak to the official in a rude or disrespectful way. Penalty: technical foul.
Team managers (coach or asst) are responsible for ensuring that all players and spectators who are with their team behave in an appropriate manner. Penalty: technical foul.
The team’s (coach or asst) is responsible to disclose the full name of any player assessed a technical foul or ejected. The game will not resume until this information is disclosed. If a manager (coach or asst) refuses to disclose a player’s information after the game, he/she (coach or asst) will be assessed a technical foul and be held out of future games until the name is disclosed.
Official Score and Scorekeeper
The Player's first and last name along with the jersey number shall be entered into the scorebook at the start of each game based on roster information provided by teams during registration.
Players arriving late may play without penalty if they are a part of the original roster
Players may not enter the game until they have been verified by the scorekeepers.
The running scorebook (kept at the scorer’s table) will be the official score and foul count
Teams are encouraged to keep their own scorebook and stats if they choose to.
Teams manager shall alert the officials immediately if any errors occur
If a team alerts the official to a mistake (that requires the clock to stop) and no error is found, that team shall be assessed a timeout
The scorekeeper will not keep track of individual statistics outside of (FG,3PT, FTM & FTA). A team may keep track of their own statistics
Officials
The officials for the TDRL Adult Basketball league are contracted from an outside officials’ organization and are not employees of the Do Right League. However, the officials are expected to treat players in a professional and respectful manner and uphold all of the rules and policies in this manual.
TDRL contracts for two or three officials per game and intend to play each game with two or three officials; as the league director sees appropriate
In the event that one official is unavailable, a game may be officiated by one or two officials; this will be considered an official game.
Once a game has begun, it is considered an official game and cannot be replayed.
